Laurene was born in Visalia, but moved to Pasedena when she was young. She was the oldest and the only daughter, so she didn't get to spend much time playing. Pearl Harbor was his when she was 10, but she didn't feel the same emotions as her parents because she was so young. After camp she went to Colorado, then back to LA. She didn't finish college because she got married, but then became a single mother of 4 children...

Natsuko was born in Del-ray and was always very meticulous in whatever she did. She loved making dolls as a kid. When Pearl Harbor was hit she was just out of high school and was very disappointed at Japan. She mainly worked and hung out with her friends in the camp. When she want out of camp she moved to Chicago, but only stayed for a short period. She came back and did little jobs. Natsuko has always loved painting...

Kay lost her mother at a very young age; her sisters then were sent away because her father couldn't take care of them, but at age 9 she felt she could take care of them, and she did. She married before camp and when Pearl Harbor was hit, she was very disappointed. All her things were lost and she couldn't go back to her old house, so she saved enough money until she could build her own house. Her defining moment is when she built her own house the way she wanted.

Toshi and Jane are sisters. Their dad was a handyman so during camp they had the privileged of sleeping on bunk beds. Toshi's defining moment was going back to school and college. Jane's defining moment was when she quit her job at a convenience store.

Yuriko lived in a house full of Japanese until first grade when she started grammar school. When she first heard of Pearl Harbor being hit she thought it was just another George Orwell story. She met her husband at camp and used to always play games with him. Yuriko became president of the Women's Farm Bureau and now is volunteering and working at home.

[movies]Sammy Nakagawa - Maricela Hernandez
By the age of 8, Sammy learned how to drive a pick-up truck. He worked in the fields and played basketball. Upon his arrival to the camp that he was assigned to, Sammy was shocked by the towers and guards. To Sammy camp was a place to meet people. He signed up for the military and was discharged in 1985. Now Sammy is retired and his words of wisdom, "be faithful to your spouse."

Misao Hikji didn't have much as a teenager. She faced prejudice growing up in the town she lived. She felt helpless during WWII, but was glad to be among so many people. After getting married, Misao and her husband moved to Fresno. Misao lives day to day taking what comes at her and hopes she can stay healthy.

After her mother died at the age of one, she moved to San Francisco to live with her aunt. After five years she moved back to live with her family. She heard of Pearl Harbor after she came back from church when she was in eighth grade. After camp she went to school in the east and came back afterwards where she met her husband and went to college.
